Its all happening

What a few weeks its been. Getting ready for returning to school and starting at UCD
Cannot wait but scared and nervous too. Will I be able to do all the work required and in the allotted times. How will I stay attentive at lectures and not wander off in my mind as I'm prone to do? Its going to be a tough few months and indeed years but I'm sure I'll get used to it as I go along. With the help of my access mates I'll gets lots of support and give a lot as well.

Its onwards and upwards from here on in. The last few days have been busy with a Writing Academy, registration, paying fees and choosing electives. Once thats all over its Orientation week and then............... lectures, seminars, assignments, essays, deadlines. Oh Dear!! :)

Wet, Misty Kerry morning

Hi

Wednesday 3rd August already and over a week since we came down to Kerry.
The weather has been mixed, lots of sunshine, but also lots of mist and rain.
Dont mind though as I can still get out and walk with the dog or climb Bray Head
or meet up with carmel for a walk around the village 'the circuit or circle' we call it.

Today will be busy as 3 of my daughters friends are coming down on the train and bus to stay for a few days. Have to get some supplies in and make beds etc. so will be busier than usual.

Also have some friends coming down on Friday for the weekend so it will be hectic. Forsee muh eating out and plenty of liquid refreshment.

On Sunday last we went to the Beara Penninsula and visited Mizen Head, the most south westerly point in Ireland. It was beautiful and the sun shone all day. We went through all the lovely villages like Bantry, Glengariff, Schull, Goleen, as well as the kerry ones, Sneem and Kenmare. Had a lovely picnic outside Mizen Head Visitor Centre. On the way home stopped in Sneem for dinner, lovely chicken and bacon salad washed down with a Sauvignon Blanc. Bliss.

For now, Namaste.

Thank Crunchie its Friday.

Cannot believe the week is almost over again and the weekend is upon us? And still no settled weather. Its certainly very warm again today but scattered showers spoiling the weather for us.
I know the rain is welcomed by the allotment holders, the gardeners, the resevoirs etc. but come on the summer still hasnt arrived !!

A good friend had a bit of a bad moment this morning when she fainted on the Luas but happily she is OK and safely tucked up at home in her bed.

This evening I am out visiting friend who I havnt seen for a while, so its a nice girly chat with wine and nibbles. Who could ask for more?

A beautiful sunny day............

Today was one of those all too rare days in Dublin ........... a beautiful sunny summer day. It was so hot today and it was lovely to wear light clothing, and sit outside in the sunshine with my friends on our weekly Wednesday catch up. I actually got sunburnt on the back of my neck!!!

Spent a lovely couple of hours chatting and enjoying the sunshine, sipping cappucinos and planning our futures. With college coming up fast we are all getting anxious about our choices and how to go about registering for the ones we want and working out the timetable.

This afternoon visited Mum and had some lunch, then down to visit Dad in the Home and back home again to mine to prep dinner and relax.

Spent the evening catching up with chores (!) and then started my newest book The Hare with the Amber Eyes, very tired so only read the first couple of chapters. It is interesting and I feel it will be a quick read, once I get my teeth into a book I dont release until its finished :)

For now, Namaste.

Officially an Undergraduate

Well it came, the offer from CAO for Arts in UCD. Decidedly sleepless night last night in anticipation of the offers being posted from 06.00am this morning. Woke up at 07.45 and checked online offers Bingo !! Offered my first choice DN500 - and I promptly accepted!! :)

So excited now - cannot wait for the beginning of September to arrive so I can get started.
Bring It On! Congrats to all my colleagues who also got offers today. We will all be together in UCD come September.

As a treat to myself to celebrate this milestone myself and my daughter cassie went along to the Tutankamun Exhibition in the RDS this afternoon. A lovely time was had by both of us, only problem now is I want to go to Egypt and see the real items and visit the Valley of the Kings.

Thursday 7th July 2011.

Well its been some time since my last post and such a lot has happened since then.

I have been busy studying and taking exams. Finally got the results and I've achieved the grades necessary to progress to college in September 2011.

Now I'm waiting for the official offer of a place in Arts for 2011. Its via CAO and offers are being made available from 06.00am today. Only 6 hours to go to find out for certain that i'm in University. I never would have believed that I would make the grade to get to University.
Its been a tough and challenging year but I've enjoyed every moment of it and am eager to get to the next stage. My life has changed in so many ways, indeed I've changed in lots of ways and all for the better.

Watch this space.

Shocking stuff:

Today I received a letter with regard to my college application. It said that I hadnt sent in the relevant results, therefore my application for the course I had applied for was unsucessful.
I was so shocked and disappointed - I decided to phone the college in question and find out why that was the case, when I was of the opinion that I had sent in all the required information.

Imagine my delight when they told me that an error had occurred - at their end -n and my application was in fact correct!! I had doubted myself and my attributes to begin with then I realised that in fact I was Ok and the mistake wasnt mine. What a relief!! But a valuable lesson was leaned in the process. I am always inclined to believe that mistakes made are always mine - and thats not the case.

Onwards and upwards, I am still on course to make the grade. I will make the grade.

Namaste.

Sunny Saturday

good morning Saturday,

slept in until 10.00am - lazy or what?

However, I have plans afoot which may now be able to come to fruition....
watch this space.

today will be spent with family and loved ones and catching up on housework/laundry/love and laundry eh?

Namaste,

Saturday 7th May 2011.

What a lot of time has passed since my last entry, two months almost gone!!
Have been busy finishing off my college course and doing my last exam.
A terrible anti climax afterwards!! However, whatever happens its all done and dusted.
Get on with other areas of my life. House, home, family, friends, work.
Lots to be done. Its the summer and we have had such gorgeous weather for the last 3 or 4 weeks.

Happy weekend ahead.

Tuesday 8th March 2012

OMG so much time has passed since I last entered on my Blog. I am still studying and working away madly. Just got my History marks and I am pleased with them, just gotta keep going at the same level with my English. Loving Dracula and John McGahern's stories and books, as well as Shakespeare. Went to Stratford on Avon during mid term to soak up some of the atmosphere in which he lived and worked. Amazing houses and those thatches!!! Ann Hathaways cottage was amazing, and such lovely gardens, must be lovelyin the summer. It was a dull, grey day the day we visited. Fitted in some retail therapy as well so happy days.

Namaste (which means to oneself a bow)
